Factors to Consider

When moving to a new home there are some important factors you need to keep in mind. In particular, concerning the financing of the move, we ask you to firstly consider two possible options:

- Taking your current mortgage arrangement with you, known as 'porting'.
- Applying for a completely new mortgage.

When making this decision, it's important that you carefully consider all the costs involved in retaining your current product against the cost of moving to a differing product or lender. Mahay Financial Services undertake this considered analysis for you and will present you with the positive and negatives of both options.

Porting can be very advantageous and virtually cost neutral especially if you do not require any additional borrowing or if you're moving to a cheaper residence (subject to circumstances, due diligence and lender criteria).

Making an incorrect decision regarding the financing of your new home can be considerably costly and so it is very much recommended that you speak to an independent adviser if you're unsure on how to proceed with the purchase.
